Skycatcher by Flingling Skycatcher by Flingling
This painting has taken me forever to complete, not because it was complicated but because I have so little time to paint these days!!! I leave it to the beholder to come up with an explanation to this scene. All I can say is that I saw that rope with the butterflies in a dream and knew I had to use it in some way. I used no reference for the guy. Watercolor and gouache.

Amazing piece, love the gentle feel over your painting style, the colours and nouances are perfect!

I must try the watercolour gouache mix, I usually do only gouache alone. Please, can you tell me the result of the mixing those media?
I mean, technically speaking, do you use the watercolour for the base, and then enchance the heavy tones and some wites with the gouache?
I'm really curious :XD:
(Sorry for bothering you)

I only use gouache for the white areas, i.e. the highlights. I donīt really mix waterclours with the gouache. Thanks for asking! :D

Thanks for the reply! I use gouache for the same thing, the white zones, still am not such a master to know exactly where the white will fit perfectly :D (But I'll try the mix, oh yes, I'm getting curious)

Still compliments for your great work, and keep it up! :XD:

I have seen this somewhere before...

You wouldn't by any chance happen to have an acount over at Elfwood, would you.

This is great, by the way.

I love how you did the cloth, and also the overall 'grey' look of the picture. Frankly, I'm sick of those super-saturated pictures. Kudos to you.

Wonderful. :salute: I cannot believe what you do with watercolors. I love the highlight on his sword. The butterfleis were from a dream. You have much better dreams than I, lol.
